'Devil-M' is a German industrial project with rock influences. Its frontman Max Meyer bears the designation Devil-M as a pseudonym/stage name. Because he is the dominant personality both within the group and in the media, the term ''Devil-M'' is often used to refer to the person Meyer.
The project was founded in 2002 and has changed styles several times over the years. While in the early years mostly experimental and drum'n'bass were created, Max Meyer began to experiment with other, heavier styles in early 2006. Meyer celebrated his first successes in June 2007 with the song "scabbed Angel" which served as the soundtrack for the independent film Die at Dawn by Daniel Laufer .
Both the band and artist name Devil-M are based on a 2002 drawing by Meyer that featured a graffiti of the letter M with horns. Because of the horns, this gave rise to the name Devil (German: Teufel) with the letter M, which can stand for different words, such as Max Meyer's first and/or last name or the reference to the music.
