Clint Carney, Ted Phelps, Trevor Friedrich

American electro-industrial band founded in 1996 by Ted Phelps and David Andrecht from the remains of the band Digital Neural Assault.
Ted Phelps founded Imperative Reaction with David Andrecht in 1996. After gaining momentum in the Los Angeles Industrial scene, in 1999, the band released their first album entitled, Eulogy For The Sick Child. The debut was met with critical praise and a growing fan base. Songs like “Scorpio” and “The Longing” quickly found their way onto DJ playlists world-wide.

2002 saw the departure of Andrecht and the release of the sophomore album Ruined. The aggressive album led Phelps to recruit Sam P. and Jason DM of Los Angeles based Pulse Legion to complete the live line-up. Shortly thereafter, the growing band completed its first North American tour.

In 2004 Imperative Reaction unleashed Redemption. This album combined the rock feel of Ruined with a more club friendly sound which helped propel the first single “Giving In To The Change” to become a dance floor staple. Jason DM was replaced on keys by Clint Carney (System Syn, God Module) and the band set out on its second North American tour. The Redemption tour led to an invitation to join VNV Nation as direct support for their 2005 Formation Tour. Over the course of 36 shows Imperative Reaction transformed itself into a celebrated live act in front of over 25,000 fans.

As We Fall , released in 2006, was met with universal acclaim. Imperative Reaction joined EBM legends Covenant on their successful Skyshaper US tour. Shortly thereafter, IR was asked to join VNV Nation on their European Judgment Tour. Upon returning to the US, the band was picked to open for Combichrist on their 2007 North American tour. Further solidifying themselves as one of the premier electronic live acts, IR returned home to Los Angeles just in time to head out with psychobilly giants, Tiger Army on their US Razor’s Kiss Tour. The desire to expand and strengthen the live show led Phelps to hire Trevor Friedrich (Combichrist, Eighteen Visions, Suffer Well) to drum for the band.

In 2008, Imperative Reaction released Minus All and embarked on its most ambitious headlining tour to date. Shortly after the completion of the tour the band added guitarist/keyboardist Adam Vex (Seraphim Shock) and the live chemistry was solidified once and for all.

In 2009, the band took time off from writing to hit the road with fellow Metropolis Records artist, Psyclon Nine. The co-headlining tour, named "The Ruina Tour", saw the bands playing to capacity crowds across the US.

2010 was spent holed up in the studio creating the band’s most ambitious album to date. Imperative Reaction is an electronic rock masterpiece that showcases a band in its prime; ready to blow any preconceived notions out of the water. There is no escape.

Clint Carney, Jon Siren

System Syn is an American electro-industrial and futurepop music group that began in 1997 in Los Angeles.
Clint Carney first began writing and performing music under the name System Syn in 1997. During the first seven years of the bands existence, SS self-released five full-length albums and three EPs, remixed over fifteen top electronic artists, appeared on seven different compilations, and contributed to a motion picture soundtrack. On top of all of SS's studio work, the band was also building a reputation for themselves as a powerful live act, having shared the stage with such artists as Daniel Ash (of Love and Rockets, Bauhaus and Tones on Tail), Red Flag, Seabound, Stromkern, Informatik, Babyland, etc.

SS eventually caught the attention of record labels, and in 2004, their 1st international debut, "Premeditated", was released on Sector 9 Studios (US) and Out of Line (Europe). To promote the release, SS departed for an extensive North American tour with Imperative Reaction. In November of 2004, SS took their act to Germany to perform at a series of "Out of Line Electro Festivals" with Hocico, Icon of Coil, God Module and Spetsnaz.

In 2005 SS moved to Metropolis Records, to release their next album, "Postscript", showcasing the band's knack for writing some of the most emotional electronic music in the genre. After following the release of "Postscript" with a US tour, SS is once again back in the studio working on more music to satisfy their ever-growing fan base.

This is a terrible development for Ted Phelps..

From time to time I like to update you all on what's going on with IR. We had a great start to the year with the release of Mirror and the pre-order campaign. I can't begin to tell you how amazing it was to see your support and positive reaction to it - it made my year. Almost all of you have received your orders - more on that in a moment.

Unfortunately, the Mirror campaign was marred by the aftereffects of Covid-19. More specifically the effects I experienced shortly after getting over it. Initially, I was basically unable to use my right arm/hand for anything beyond waving as it was numb and the muscles wouldn't do what I needed them to do. This persisted through March. I'm stubborn and didn't see a doctor. My signature on some of your CDs probably looks weird. Packing bundles was an arduous task, etc.

Last Thursday I went to the ER. My leg was in excruciating pain. After a series of tests it was determined that I have blood clots in my leg that have spread to my lungs. The nurse told me if I hadn't come in I probably would have died. I was admitted to the hospital for the first time in my life. I was (still am) scared out of my mind. I've been diagnosed with Deep Vein Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolisms. I'm "lucky" in that the PEs are relatively small. That's the end of the good news. The bad news is I'm in a REALLY bad situation as I cannot work. I had to stop work on the remix album we have planned and now, all tour ideas/plans have to be set aside. Touring is a rigorous endeavor and I'm a relatively physical performer who often collects an assortment of bruises and cuts during any given show. Unfortunately, I will have to be on blood thinners for at least 6 months. This is a real bummer.

I'm including a link to the GoFundMe my wife set up in the hopes that you will help spread the word about my situation. Anything helps and I would never do this for anything less than an emergency. This is very hard for me. Provided I can get back on track after this nightmare I look forward to getting back to work on the Mirror Remix album and Mercury Lust.

I hope you're all doing well and staying safe,
Ted

“Kill the Light” is SYSTEM SYN’s latest and most synthpop-oriented album to date. The songs of “Kill the Light” range from haunting and heartbreaking, to heavy-hitting club tracks, yet all retain the sound that is so uniquely SYSTEM SYN. Hey all, I've been working on a brand new side project called Late Night Horror Show, which, aside from SYSTEM SYN, also features collaborations with God Module, Flesh Field, Cindergarden, and Elias Black!

It'll hit all major digital platforms on October 24th, but there are three tracks on Bandcamp that you can listen to right now: distrokid.com/hyperfollow/latenighthorrorshow/midnight-madness

Every song on the album is under 1 minute long. It's pretty fun and crazy. I hope you enjoy it! Please help spread the word if you know anyone else who might be into it! Cheers!

Clint Carney

Midnight Madness
by Late Night Horror Show

Late Night Horror Show unveils their debut musical oddity, "Midnight Madness." A compilation of 16 tracks, each no longer than a minute, and totaling a mere 11 minutes. This audacious project features collaborations with talents like God Module, Flesh Field, SYSTEM SYN, Cindergarden, and Elias Black.

Described as a whirlwind of horror-themed melodies, "Midnight Madness" offers a tongue-in-cheek tribute to all things eerie. Perfect for the spooky season, the album is an exhilarating mix of fun and fear, proving that impactful stories can be told in the briefest of moments.

Lower Forms
by system syn

Is it okay to be happy
I'm really asking, I don't know
Though you may want the blood to flow
You can't always find a pulse

So please do tell
Your tales of heroes and their hell
And we will laugh and sing along
And hope a right can heal a wrong

We fear the consequences
Consciences might bring about
Those higher forms of consciousness
The lower knows about
And he's not telling anyone

He's not telling anyone
So I'll scream it from the lowest depths of Hell

Is it okay to be happy
I hope to Hell that you don't know
So if you want the blood to flow
You must bare your throat

So please do tell
How you're the hero in this hell
And we will cry and play along
And pray a right can heal a wrong

We fear the consequences
Consciences might bring about
Those higher forms of consciousness
The lower knows about
And he's not telling anyone

He's not telling anyone
He's not telling anyone
So I'm telling everyone
I'm fucking telling everyone

And we'll watch each other burn so bright in Hell
