Anything Box - Synth-pop, Electro from Los Angeles, California
« on: February 20, 2024, 05:41:29 PM »

Whatever you think you know about 'synthpop' throw it out your window. Synthpop here is an art movement, a dadaist version. For people. Maybe someone like you. We like you. You're still reading this? OK. Be careful, time displacements have been known to occur in this construct. Are you still reading this? Good. You are worthy.

Anything Box is an electronica/synthpop musical group based in Los Angeles. It is made of musicians Claude S., Dania Morales, and Paul Rijnders. They are known primarily for their 1990 hit song "Living in Oblivion" from the popular album 'Peace', which was released through Epic Records.

After acrimonious fighting with that label and changing music times, the group broke off and has since released multiple independent albums to a devoted following of synthpop fans. They've also incorporated more industrial and techno influences. 1990's 'Peace' was notably followed up by 1993's 'Hope'.

As time went on, their music has received some critical acclaim. Their 2001 album 'Worth, which was recorded in 1991 but released later for legal reasons, is named by Allmusic as "one of the most beautifully dark synth-pop albums ever made." The band garnered attention for releasing a free EP entirely in MP3 format in 2003 as well.

Their official site is www.anythingbox.com, which contains several free song downloads.

Hope //:\ Worth EP
by Anything Box

released February 20, 2024

Written + Produced by Claude S. (endpop)
Executive Producer: Robert Ehlinger + The New Beat

This is an excursion into the art realm of Anything Box, to showcase the transition phase from the Worth era into Hope. You will hopefully understand the relationship that these two records have with each other much better.

Or... An alternate universe exists in which this artifact has come through to be its unique voice from that other place... This is more likely to be true than the first statement.

An endpop fungible token.

Hope: 30th Anniversary Edition
by Anything Box

PLEASE NOTE: You can purchase the Digital Version for $7.00 if all you want are the files/streaming option. The Physical Book is a separate item, and it will INCLUDE the download. Buying the complete discography does not include physical items.

This is the 30th Anniversary release of Hope as a Bandcamp Exclusive! This is a lovingly re-mastered carefully restored 24-Bit version. It will eventually include a PDF book (If you miss out on the PHYSICAL book).

BKWRK.01 also marks the first ABOX album released as part of a book. And I could not have picked a better album to start with than a true fan favorite.

If I may ask a huge favor of you, please leave a comment! I love reading them more than anything else, and it really helps us out! :)

released July 27, 2023

Written, Mixed, and Produced by Anything Box. Assisted by Keith Milo., Gary Strilio, and Jeff Underwood. Mastered by Doug Doyle at Digital Brothers. Remastered in 2023 by endpop. Elektronische Kunst: Claude S., Dania Morales, and Gary Strilio. The images in this book by endpop (Claude S.) unless otherwise stated. Tokenized versions of endpop's secret work from this book are available on Objkt.com

All live loops and crowd noise are taken from actual Abox performances.

Thirty years later... Excursion three, to be spread universally and loud. Again.

Otherverses
by Anything Box

Otherverses is an electronic pop album of alternate universes, colliding within time and space. Believe me when I say this. I am convinced some unknown force kept these songs from being released until now when they would come together to paint a picture, a sound, and a feeling... Of all that has passed in this life, and that which is to come.

I hope you will enjoy this album. It's taken nearly 36 years to make.

~ Claude S.

ps., There are other worlds to be explored...

released September 6, 2024

Written and Produced by Claude S., except Pieces, which was produced by Jon St. James, with additional 2024 production by Claude S. (endpop). All songs by Claude S.
