ABOUT BRUTAL RESONANCE NETZINE
In the first six months, Brutal Resonance has evolved from a Swedish only netzine, to an established International zine of the highest standard. With professional and experienced staff from all over the world, we offer you knowledge on the widest of genres.

To answer a commonly asked question, we are truly independent with no special agreements. This means that we will feature any label or artist that falls within our spectrum. Regardless of personal bias, all releases that are featured will be given the scrutiny we believe they deserve. This means that we are not afraid to give something a low score if we dislike it. At risk of controversy, we do firmly believe that we should give an honest opinion. If our staff do not like an album, then we simply will not tell the audience to buy it. However, we do also promise a fair and accurate review. This means that (apart from in rare cases), even the lowest scoring albums will be balanced out, so that the pros and cons are both documented.

In 2020, Brutal Resonance editor-in-chief Steven Gullotta expanded the publication with the formation of Brutal Resonance Records; now, he has gone another step further to expose audiences to notable up-and-coming acts in the goth/industrial underground with the launch of a new podcast. Featuring a blend of specially curated playlists, episodes focusing on artist and record label discographies, and the various subgenres of industrial, dark electro, synthpop, darkwave, synthpop, and all points in between, the Brutal Resonance podcast will expand in later episodes to include artist interviews, special guests, and more. Available to listen on MixCloud, the first episode made its premiere on May 17, the playlist featuring tracks by Dawn of Ashes, GR^VE, Against I, and – in a special promotion of the two bands’ upcoming Consumer:Dogma 2022 summer tour – Unitcode:Machine and Finite Automata.

INDUSTRIAL WORKOUTS FOR INDUSTRIAL PEOPLE
by Various Artists

Have you ever been at the gym getting SWEATY, SWOLE, and VASCULAR and thought, “Hey, this playlist SUCKS. I can feel my biceps imploding and my glutes aren’t bubbly anymore.” Well, fear no more. We, the lovely people at Brutal Resonance, have curated a 40 track playlist of hand picked songs meant to pick you up. HOSTILE ARCHITECT’s ‘ANYTIME FITNESS (SUPPLEMENTAL MIX)’ will get those lats locked in place when you’re going for your deadlift PR whilst DARK MACHINE NATION will have you benching five plates (and the earth itself) like it’s 225lbs in no time. DESIGNER VIOLENCE will get those biceps RIPPED and PUMPED while SLEEPLESS DROIDS will get you doing five more reps…Even when you have nothing left in you.

40 tracks with non-stop industrial madness. Get in the gym and bring out your rage.

All proceeds from this album will go towards the purchase of creatine, protein powder, and smelling salts.

Synth Massacre (Compilation)
by Brutal Resonance Records+

Do you hear it? The sudden shift in tone as a single line sends chills down your spine. The electronic trickles touch down upon your shoulder, as if a spider just ran across your back and darted off into the dark. Could it still be on you? Down your shirt perhaps? Or is it just a mirage as you explore this haunted studio? The cobwebs lying across discarded laptops, modular synthesizers, and vintage hardware makes you uncomfortable, less so than the old bloodstains that sprinkle the pieces like candy on ice cream. The cassette led you here; you’re sure of it. As to the reason why you’re uncertain, but you feel aloof and the shadows dance around you. More illusions? You’re not so sure. Your sanity is slowly escaping you. The only thing left to do is pass through the door to the back. It reads, “DO NOT ENTER,” but what foreboding sign wasn’t meant to be disobeyed? You grab the handle, and a deep breath is taken. A bead of sweat drips from your upper brow and down to the floor. You creak the door open, and it swings wide, more forceful than you intended. Landing flat on your face, you groan in pain as you attempt to wipe the dirt from your clothes. But when you look up, the horror has only begun. Twenty-two faces stare at you, all with evil intent. They chant all at once, “Welcome to the Synth Massacre!”

Brutal Resonance Records is proud to announce our most ambitious Halloween and charity Compilation to date, “Synth Massacre”! This wonderous celebration of the darkest, and most fun, time of the year was made in collaboration with a ton of talent across the dark electronic scene. With a mutual love for synthesizers, these twenty-two artists, musicians, and producers have gathered together a wicked compilation of amazing dance tracks or otherwise spooky themes.

The A-side contains songs from synthwave heavies Lazer Station, Castroe, Stilz, Neoslave, and DreamReaper. Industrial duo Bellhead provides a unique remix of their lethal song ‘Unicorn Bones’, while Venus in Disgrace gives us an opening crawl into this night of terror. Finishing out the A-side is Teknovore’s addictive stompy industrial techno. The B-side is no pushover, either; more synthwave comes from Wolftron, North Innsbruck, Neuroc, and Neuron Spectre. Nature of Wires provides a hellish take on nightmarish soundtracks creeps, while Sophomore utilizes samples from a Christian documentary against rock’n’roll. Exemia remixes T-Error Machinez’ track featuring The Cosmic Order to finalize the B-side. But wait! There’s more! Available with purchase as a digital download come seven bonus tracks from Exemia, Dreaming in Spanda, The Blue Hour, Doors in the Labyrinth, Gerbfather, Coiled as Devilry, and Thrillsville. It’s a fine way to keep your guests dancing all night for Halloween.

“Synth Massacre” is available in both limited edition cassette and pay-what-you-want digital formats. With cover art designed by Brian C Knapp (Lazer Station), the cassette comes with a four-panel, double-sided J-card in a smokey red tint. Fifty copies limited worldwide!

This year we have decided to donate all profits to the Villalobos Rescue Center. This center originally began as a wolf / wolf-hybrid rescue in the 90s, the facility now rescues all-breeds and maintains its status as a non-profit organization. The service takes in around forty dogs a month, and adopt out forty to fifty a month. With costs of shelter, food, and veterinarian bills each year, the operating cost for Villalobos reaches upwards of four-million dollars or a more a year. Being someone who has had many canine companions throughout his life, I find it a worthy cause to donate to Villalobos to help abandoned, abused, or otherwise mistreated animals. All profits from “Synth Massacre” will go towards Villalobos.
