She Killed In Ecstasy (S.K.I.E.) is a Chicago/Los Angeles band comprised of members Shana (LA) on vocals, Griffin (Chicago) on guitar/vocals and producer/synth Risk (Chicago). The trio came together in 2017 with the idea to create a new sound by delving into the past and taking elements of trip-hop, electronica, hip-hop, and rock. Using dark, synth-driven tracks with soft, melodic vocals and haunting guitar riffs, S.K.I.E. creates a cinematic tapestry of sound. Their debut EP, The Fatal, was engineered and co-produced by Rae Nimeh (Disturbed, Common) and also features Caesar Corall and Matt Longbons on bass, Heather Horton (The Westies) on violin, and Ari Lehman (First Jason and Friday the 13th fame) on keys.

Fronted by female vocalist Shana Montanez, Chicago-based trio “She Killed In Ecstasy” (S.K.I.E.) delivers a haunting amalgam of Massive Attack trip-hop meets Lana del Rey Vibes.

A modern-day Portishead, the trio came together in 2017 when Producer/Synth Risk had the idea to create a new sound by delving into the past and taking elements of trip-hop, electronica, hip-hop, and rock. Inspired by femme fatale, film noir, & horror, he asked childhood friend Shana to come on as the voice of the project and brought on guitarist Griffin Crowder.

Using dark, John Carpenter-esque, synth-driven tracks, soft melodic vocals, and rocky guitar riffs, SKIE creates a soundtrack-like, cinematic tapestry of sound. The band just celebrated the release of their debut EP “The Fatal” which has garnered attention and airplay from 101.1 FM WKQXChicago Veejay James Von Osdol, who states “It’s trip-hoppy, it’s rock, it’s all kind of good…”

She Killed In Ecstasy is rumored to be a clandestine experimental electronic project, solely comprised of screenwriter and composer/producer Clay Smith. Drawing inspiration from all that is old school punk, 70’s funk, 80’s synth pop, vintage psychedelia, obscure cult films and B-movies; he’s hopelessly condemned to a tireless existence of corrupting unsuspecting minds with a relentless onslaught of sweet, soothing, schizophrenic mood music.
