The idea was to evoke Christmas with a sense of distance, melancholy, as if we wanted to be part of the excitement, but somehow unable to. The musical style harkens back to a certain "new age" or "world beat" genre of the 1990s, trying to be an evocative piece different from the cheerful and cheesy pop songs (which I kinda love) that plague us during the Holiday Season. I think it’s good if you want to close your eyes and escape, far away, but always in a subtle Christmas mood.

“Grown-Up Christmas List” is a Christmas song composed by David Foster with lyrics by Linda Thompson-Jenner. It was originally written for a 1989 CBC Christmas special titled “A David Foster Christmas Card” and recorded as a duet with David Foster and Natalie Cole.

The song’s message is more urgent than ever in a time when hate and polarization thrive. If we want a world of peace and love, it must be filled with more kindness and compassion. My grown-up Christmas list, not for myself, but for a world in need.
