Knife Party - Bonfire [Music Video]

There are two distinct versions of dubstep. 1, the original UK version that spawned from garage, 2-step, and Dub. And 2, crazy robots fucking. The latter also borrowed from drum & bass, where the original was sluggish textured bass music.
I have found, through the passage of time that I still enjoy UK dubstep, but the other version got cringy pretty quick.
Distance, Goth Trad, Milanese, Tunnidge, Sleeper, Pinch, and Kryptic Minds are notable.

Well Knife Party might not be your thing but I don't know how you could go wrong being featured in an episode of [ B ]reaking [ B ]ad?

Damn Chris - that is some nasty dubstep right there.
Song: Casket
Artist: Mastadon
Album: Malignant EP

OMG that was effing hilarious - thanks for sharing. Reminds me how I felt when I first heard dubstep too.
-
Nice one chris. reminds me of a slight death robot type of dubstep with very nice music overtones blended in.

Ok. We cannot have an EDM/Dubstep thread without Excision.
And his other project, where he bought the name from Daniel Myer
Then a classic banger from 16bit
Lastly some Kill the Noise
Man, I used to love this stuff till I figured out the LFO gimmick. Now it all sounds procedural to me. What I found really interesting was that this dubstep and powernoise use a lot of the same approaches to bass EQ and use of distortion. It was when dubstep tracks started getting a ton of autotune vocals and then trap styles crept in, I quietly slipped out the back..lol

OMG OMG OMG - Where has this stuff been in my life so far? AMAZING stuff!!! I LOVE IT! MORE!!!
Yeah, Excision and Destroid sound very similar since it's the same guy and I always wondered why Daniel Myer changed his band name to DSTR.
5arah is gonna love 16bit as much as I do because she loves dubstep and more especially dinosaurs.
Kill The Noise is pretty rad.
What does the LFO gimmick mean or do you mean the band LFO?
Yeah I'm not a huge fan of the autotune (actually I hate autotune) or the trap styles either. Is UK Dubstep still being made and popular right now?
-
The LFO gimmick is how those bands make the wubs. Low Frequency Oscillation flutters the waveform. With digital softsynths you can draw the LFOs, match and multiply time signatures. After that its just a matter of layering sounds to get proper frequency modulation and then tightly EQing everything and using compression so everything just "pumps", along.
As for current UK dubstep, the two major labels are still releasing music:

https://deepmedimusik.bandcamp.com
Dynamis by Distance was 2019 and it kills
https://tectonicrecordings.bandcamp.com/album/dynamis
Then Pinch is old school, he had a record last year

He did a couple things with Adrian Sherwood (Depeche Mode, Pop Will Eat Itself, Skinny Puppy) That was awesome.
You might like Mumdance and Logos. They are pretty progressive. Truth is also really good.
