Simulakrum Lab is a synthwave/retrowave music project created by the composer and sound designer Paolo Prevosto from Italy.
Here are the renowned guests featured on the 2019 “SIMULAKRUM LAB II” album:
Cody Carpenter
Keys & Synth Solo on Tracks 1, 3, 6, 8
Dana Jean Phoenix
Vocals on Tracks 2, 4, 7, 9
The new album was born from the idea of composing a hypothetical soundtrack of a 70s-80s science-fiction B-movie, with sounds inspired by electronic music pioneers like Tangerine Dream, John Carpenter, Giorgio Moroder and Goblin. In fact prevails the analog sound of the synthesizers Prophet, Moog and Korg.
Prevosto, editor of the magazine FantascienzaItalia, a great collector and historian of cinema and astronautics, dedicates this album to the space conquests, in the year of the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing.
Paolo Prevosto boasts collaborations with Claudio Simonetti and Fabio Pignatelli of Goblin on the album “Simulakrum Lab”, released in 2013. He also made two remixes for the vinyls published on the occasion of the anniversaries of the “Demons movie by Lamberto Bava and Opera by Dario Argento: “Killing” from the soundtrack of “Demoni” and “Confusion” from the soundtrack to “Opera”
The core of Simulakrum Lab is the balance between old school electronic music and groundbreaking future sound engineering.
