Volkor X the Swallower of Worlds, the Intergalactic Triumphant Victor, Conqueror of the Peoples of the Universe, is marching. You know its next target - its shadow already hovers over you.
Starships are in pursuit, lasers blast, planets implode. By way of a soundtrack, a synth wave adorned with retrofuturistic MIDI flights, an interstellar dark wave spotlighting analog layers, an astral retro wave, disturbing and relentless.
But who's hiding behind this gallium mask? Who's the mere mortal, the alter ego breathing life into the greatest synthetic Titan ever known? An important actor of the extreme music scene in France. An inveterate composer. An artist who wants to stay anonymous for fear that his creature would break free from him, as it is his inner manifestation, his avatar… The heart and soul of Volkor X.

This mid-tempo instrumental song is reminiscent of drifting through the vastness of space. Analog synths confer a sense of both nostalgia and futurism to the song. Yet, at its core, the song retains the hallmarks of post-rock, using its deliberate pacing and crescendo-building to tell a narrative. This fusion results in a quite unique experience, in my humble opinion.

I'm hoping 'Adrift' showcases the power of music to evoke emotions, provoke contemplation, and transport us to places we've never been before. This track, like many others on the album to come, is a crescendo of emotions, a sonic journey that reflects our own path back at us, reminding us of the beauty and complexity of embracing our impermanent reality and that of those around us.

If you’ve ever felt the intensity of the movie Sunshine, you know the emotional power of its soundtrack. For me, "Adagio in D Minor" is one of the most impactful tracks, a moment where the music truly amplifies the emotional weight of the scene. This piece has always hit me hard, and I wanted to capture that same raw emotion in my own way, the Volkor way. Whether you know the movie or not, I hope this version takes you on that same emotional journey.
Fun fact: the song is actually in E Minor.
