Which do you prefer to hear or have in your music project? Or both?
I happen to prefer a live drummer especially if they do drum solos. But I know for purely economical reasons drummachines work best.

Fear Factory - Industrial Discipline (Drum Cover)
The Qemists - Stompbox drum cover

Either one, or both maybe?
Drumming is awesome, but drum machines have a cool distinctive sound.

I prefer both. However, the drum machine is more reliable.

Doktor Avalanche is a drum machine , i.e. a computer-controlled "drummer". Dr. Avalanche has been known as a "member" of The Sisters of Mercy since the 1980s. Its programming is mostly done by The Sisters of Mercy's singer, originally drummer, Andrew Eldritch . Over the years, Doktor Avalanche has had several manifestations, "incarnations" or guises. Andrew Eldritch was the first drummer for The Sisters of Mercy. However, the band realized that Andrew was a better singer than drummer, so the band got a drum machine to replace Andrew. Doctor Avalanche's career began in the Boss DR-55 suit
