American dark wave duo formed in 1993 and based in Los Angeles, California.
Faith and the Muse is an American gothic rock/dark wave band composed of two musicians, Monica Richards and William Faith. Their music encompasses many genres, from folk-style songs to darker compositions, drawing on many sources and influences, notably Dead Can Dance. Richards is the primary singer, although Faith sings one or two tracks on each album. Their influences include dark alternative, gothic rock, Celtic, and other folk influences. Welsh and Irish mythology have often served as inspiration to many of the band's songs.

Fronted by veteran artist William Faith (formerly of Faith and the Muse, Christian Death, Mephisto Walz, Shadow Project, The March Violets, etc.) and Sarah Rose Faith (aka DJ Scary Lady Sarah), The Bellwether Syndicate are coloring outside of prescribed genre lines, pushing the boundaries of style and substance into something relevant and vital.
William Faith, former member of seminal goth acts Christian Death, Mephisto Walz, Shadow Project and co-founder of Faith & The Muse, moved from his native Los Angeles to Chicago in 2010 to form THE BELLWETHER SYNDICATE with his wife, Sarah Rose Faith. Sarah aka “Scary Lady Sarah” is a well- known DJ and club promoter, with the longest-running goth event in North America called NOCTURNA at Metro in Chicago. The duo forms the nucleus of THE BELLWETHER SYNDICATE and also often DJs together as The PirateTwins.
Their 2013 EP The Night Watch was described as “an amazing, stunning, hell yeah, OMG, gimme some more, record! Post-punk on a not-very-discreet death rock orientation,” by Noise Journal. Next was 2018’s single “Republik.” It was called “a glittery piece of glamorous darkness...with William Faith’s crooning vocals and Sarah Rose smoothly cascading guitars,” by Post-Punk.com and was to lead to a 2019 release that never came.
While the studio recordings are made by William and Sarah alone, the live lineup includes Corey Gorey (bass) and Philly Peroxide (keyboards/percussion) and Stevyn Grey (drums).
