Jonathan Sharp's - New Mind - Bio-Tek tribute thread
« on: March 04, 2023, 04:40:27 AM »

British electro-industrial / techno artist. Nowaday Jonathan Sharp (Gunhed) is a Library / Production Music Composer and sound designer from the North-West of England. He writes for a number of Music Publishers in the UK, USA & Australia.

Formed in October 1990, New Mind encompasses the creative talents of Jonathan Sharp. Based in Cumbria, England, New Mind has released five full length albums, two singles and several remixes.
Recording and production take place at New Mind HQ, also located in Cumbria.

Bio-Tek

This is an excellent side-project of Jonathan Sharp (who seems to be popping up on many releases recently) of New Mind fame. This material is more of a straight-forward techno/industrial style harkening back to the first New Mind release "Fractured", without as much of the chaos. But not to worry, you still will never hear a straight-forward 4/4 song from Mr. Sharp; there are plenty of interesting samples, constructions, and noises to please your average industrialite and make your average radio-listener twinge and go into epileptic shock. Mr. Sharp is still a very angry man and lets you know it with his spiteful, hate-filled vocals and biting lyrics.

Cyber-Tec Project

An electro-industrial supergroup lead by vocalist Jean-Luc De Meyer (Front 242, Cobalt 60, etc.), Jonathan Sharp (New Mind, Bio-Tek, etc.) and Ged Denton (Crisis NTI). The name was taken from Cyber-Tec Records, who released their first and only album, it contained an international club hit "Let Your Body Die". After this release, Jonathan Sharp left the band due to problems with Cyber-Tec Records manager Paul M Green. The remaining members shortened the name to C-Tec, signed to Wax Trax! Records in the U.S. and Marc Heal (Cubanate) joined as a full-time member. After Jonathan Sharp left the band, he formed Hyperdex-1-Sect with Sevren Ni-Arb from X-Marks The Pedwalk.

Hyperdex-1-Sect

Hyperdex-1-Sect is an X-Marks the Pedwalk side project. In 1994 Sevren-Ni-Arb (André Schmechta) got a call from the label 21st Circuitry Records in the States. They wanted to commission him as songwriter, producer and engineer for a special project. Initial ideas and song-titles were constructed by Jonathan Sharp (frontman of U.K. industrial act New Mind) and were sent to Sevren who did the main composition, the sound-design, the main programming and also wrote the lyrics. He also decided to feature the backing vocals of Estefania on some tracks. Jonathan then provided additional programming and mixing. An early copy was released in Germany by Synthetic Symphony in 1997. For the "official" 21st Circuitry release in 1998 remixes by Empirion and Download were also included on the CD.

Members: André Schmechta, Jonathan Sharp

Hexedene

Hexedene were an English electro-industrial group comprising vocalist Katie Helsby and guitarists Ian Palmer and Jonathan Sharp. They were recognized for fusing techno and industrial with leading female vocals. Helsby and Palmer signed their project Streem to a large record label after recording sessions finished for Hexedene's first album and as a result departed to leave Sharp as the sole member. The band released two albums: Choking on Lilies in 1997 and Bullet Proof Diva's in 2001.

Hexedene was conceived in 1997 by composer Jonathan Sharp as a side project to his band New Mind. In order to produce the music Jonathan Sharp wrote completed songs between 1995 and 1997 that he sent on tape to Katie Helsby and Ian Palmer to layer vocals and guitars.

Members: Ian Palmer, Jonathan Sharp, Katie Helsby
