DEEP DOWN CITY

Honour, pride and sacrifice. This is the way of the DEEP DOWN CITY. A city built by the outlaws for the outlaws. The dig down continues but now humanity has a new home - 6000 levels below.

Drawing inspiration from anime, cyberpunk, industrial punk and synthwave; DEEP DOWN CITY is a heavy electro stomper designed for live shows and the club. For fans of: Perturbator, 3TEETH, Pitchshifter.
lyrics
/// lyrics

We reached a place so deep that,
All the light has left the darkness,
We source a new found light a
Strength to fuel our journeys process

A new world built for us,
A city designed to survive,
Honour, pride, and sacrifice,
This is the way of the Deep Down City

Main chamber to the stairwells,
Entertainment and the sleep holes,
Trains and stations, living districts,
All together survival instinct.

Deep, down below
We see the glow
our home so far down

This is the way, survive the day,
Take it from me we’ve paved our way.

"Rotations is the new single from MATT HART , the London artist still navigating between his EBM, industrial metal and aggrotech influences while remaining faithful to his futuristic and icy universe that he always developed in his last album Below the Terra Pt. 1 released last year."~ Pierre Sopor, VerdamMnis, France – 01/07/2023
www.verdammnis.com/news/matt-hart-est-de-retour-avec-rotations

"Under the prism of EBM (Electronic Body Music) and Industrial, the London musician works – like many in this musical sphere – independently; be it collaboratively or solo, as he has been doing since the Anthology of Corrosion album , released in 2017." ~ Luiz Athayde, Class of Sounds, Portugal – 03/07/2023

"1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8...
Kick off the week with a killer energy-bomb thrown at us by the awesome London-based EBM/industrial producer MATT HART to blast us from the cruel and threatening to turn grey! 'Rotations' is the uncompromising club-destroying new-school EBM track, enhanced with brutal high-voltage energies and earth-shattering beats! This great song has just arrived with a heavy hardcore techno sound from Jon Stancil aka Seraphim System." ~ József Németh, Kollektiva, Hungary – 03/07/2023

" '8 HOURS AWAKE. 8 HOURS ASLEEP. THIS IS THE WAY OF THE TIME MILL.' This is the mantra here, for there is not time for anything, except digging into the ground beneath, for the humans to escape their electronic assassins. The synths are ripe and juicy, while the beats are rampaging, forcing you to move that body. HART’s vocals broker no argument for this is how thing must be, as the shifts rotate through continuously, like a colony of ants, slaves to the rhythm for survival. The SWAGGROTATIONS REMIX has the massive slamming beats and screaming electronics. It summons a feeling of utter panic, suddenly dropping into drum and bass, before whirling off, pounding your skull into a pulpy mess. MATT HART’s original version is chock full of scintillating synths, club floor filling rhythms and rounding vocals, building the air of a will so stubborn, one shall do whatever to avoid elimination. With the SERAPHIM SYSTEM mix, we definitely find ourselves with a different beast. Harsher electronics, mixed with dub and dropping bass, combined with the crushing beats. All of this is a reflection of the desperation and even loss of humanity by the survivors…. ah well, at least they are doing it in style, while carrying out “ROTATIONS“." ~ ADELE SINNAMON, Onyx Music Reviews, Australia – 03/07/2023

"When electro metal & 2000’s techno body music & modern EBM meet, they can make songs like MATT HART latest dance-floor moving song, “Rotations”. The same guitars might have gotten a slightly higher volume at the expense of the lead, but the robot vocal bands can still produce a song flavoured at several points, parts of which are combined in an anti-boring way. Seraphim System made a minimally varied, distorted remix of this! In this noisy techno is replaced by drum and bass & breakbeat, so that industrial techno is enriched with more and more high sounds." ~ Mortel Misantropix, NecrogenesiS - Magyar Industrial Webzine, Hungary – 03/07/2023

"British musician and producer MATT HART expands his career by leaps and bounds. This month he presents a new version for the single "Rotations", this time it is a remix by Seraphim System, which almost completely transforms the single, adding distortion, touches of drum and bass and a more brutal rhythm, taking the track to a more hardcore techno sound, which makes it almost addictive to listen to.... Let's assume that this will be another success that will bring you closer to the second part of the series "Below The Terra". The convergence of dark industrial and heavy electro creates a hybrid sound that is catchy and aggressive, while being clean and polished production. It sets the tone for what's to come after the success of 2022's "Below The Terra Part 1" album." ~ Atomium Magazine, Chile – 11/07/2023

"He [MATT HART] takes us to the future. The year 3808, Deep Down City.
The beat ticks away the time, while we can dance to this club number for 8 hours. Spoken words between which the seconds are scanned sound exciting, with popping rhythms and electric synths. Stampingly aggressive and under the influence of Front 242!” ~ Nel Mertens (Alien Darkness #245), Luminous Dash, Belgium – 16/07/2023

"SLAMMING new single which ties borg technology to the bones of Front Line Assembly and pumps 1.21 gigawatts of juice to animate this old school concept in 2023. Music to automate your factory to." ~ Ken Magerman, Sounds & Shadows, Michigan, USA – 03/08/2023

TO THE CORE (AESTHETIC PERFECTION REMIX)
by MATT HART

Daniel Graves’ Aesthetic Perfection remix of TO THE CORE takes the original (single 15/11/2021 from sophomore album BELOW THE TERRA PT.1 released 15/03/2022) and adds his signature ‘industrial pop’ sound to it. With new verse vocals and even stompier beats, this track will take the listener even deeper into the bowels of the earth – and of course, hits heavy on a dance floor!

As the outlaws continue to dig down to the core, the chants of ‘down, down, down into the core’ echo throughout quiet nights in the Deep Down City. What was once solely a physical effort, has now become a mental one too. The psychological trauma of being away from natural light, begins to take its toll. Unite with the dig teams to boost morale.

released February 28, 2023

Written, produced, mixed and artwork by MATT HART.
Mastered by Krischan Wesenberg of Rotersand.
Remixed and additional vocals by Daniel Graves - Aesthetic Perfection.

"Graves has a very distinctive voice and you cannot miss his dulcet industrial pop tones. You might think this is an easy breezy, pop til you drop dance number…..but you are only right to a point and have been lulled into a false sense of security, when it all drops the down for a bass beat heavy chorus. So you are on a roller-coaster between succulent sweet crooning and grating chanting as the big push goes on, to dig down to the hot core of the planet, with with a charged up dance track.

Will the humans survive the onslaught? That is for another release but I would be a fairly happy little human bean (being) hearing more collaborations between HART and Graves. The Aesthetic Perfection remix featuring Daniel Graves, has polished MATT HART’s gem, “TO THE CORE“, into a diamond."~ ADELE SINNAMON, ONYX MUSIC REVIEWS, Australia – 02/03/2023
onyxmusicreviews.com

"MATT HART created a killer remix of the club-shattering song 'To The Core' by industrial pop' Aesthetic Perfection. Daniel Graves did not take the work lightly, supplemented with his own vocals, carved a version of the original almost rework level. The "sensual duet" of MATT HART and Daniel Graves with a brutally distorted voice turned out perfect: the fusion of raw industry and pop really works... let’s say, knowing the music of Aesthetic Perfection, this was not even a question!" ~ József Németh, Kollektiva, Hungary – 02/03/2023
www.facebook.com/alternativkollektiva/

"This remix has only been released as a single and is marked by Grave's industrial pop signature. He takes us even deeper under the 'terra' and gives us new dance floor fodder, with new vocals in the stanza and even deeper beats. [Down, down, down, into the core…]” ~ Nel Mertens (Alien Darkness #228), Luminous Dash, Belgium – 12/03/2023
luminousdash.be/uncategorized/uitheems-geduister-228/#

"Industrial Pop tender destruction remixed by the master of the genre [Daniel Graves]. Glitchy and cruel with crystal clarity. This is not MATT HART’s first trip to our singles chart, it most certainly won’t be his last. The rising strikes like visible heat rising from the pavement. The bassline is a diamond tipped drill seeking out minerals below the curst." ~ Ken Magerman, Sounds & Shadows, Michigan, USA – 16/03/2023

BLACK ABYSS (OPAL DUSK Remix)

BLACK ABYSS (ORIGINAL MIX)
by MATT HART

In the labyrinthine depths of the enigmatic DEEP DOWN CITY, an intrepid search team has stumbled upon a phenomenon shrouded in mystery: a seemingly bottomless hole, devoid of any perceivable terminus. Dubbed the BLACK ABYSS by those who dare to peer into its unfathomable depths, this enigmatic void defies all conventional understanding. Could this ominous chasm herald the long-speculated final descent into the very heart of the Terra’s core, where secrets as ancient as time itself lie buried in the darkness?

BLACK ABYSS emerges as a club-ready EBM-infused track, pulsating with the influences of iconic bands like Nitzer Ebb, Kreign, and Wulfband, while maintaining the signature style and vibe reminiscent of previous releases. Notably, this track eschews guitars, opting instead for a relentless surge of pure electro energy, promising an electrifying experience for listeners on the dance floor.
lyrics
We look down, to the black abyss
We stare through, the sulphur mist
We drop the rock, to our fallen
Gaze forever at the black abyss.

So black, so deep, so dark into the void
So black, so deep, emptiness, black abyss.

"' BLACK ABYSS ' is served to us in slices. The single release includes the original mix, as well as remixes from [removed]. So that the power doesn't run out immediately, the individual tracks are released every week. MATT HART has recognised the mechanism of Spotify and co and gets the maximum amount of time spent in the system. That's good for us, as we're guaranteed to have good music on our release radars in the next 4 weeks. The song starts with an imploring chorale and then turns into an unbridled club stomper with short verses and hard shouts. We think it's worth it - in any case. ' BLACK ABYSS ' is a real hit, the remixes are no less rowdy and in general MATT HART is worth every attention." ~ Dany Wedel, Schwarze Welle, Germany – 04/03/2024

"...Immerse yourself in the Darkness: "Black Abyss" is a dive into the depths of electro darkness. Pulsating beats and hypnotic layers of synths will envelop you, transporting you to a sonic abyss where dark textures intertwine with industrial intensity." ~ Other Voices, Spain – 05/03/2024

"...a new modern EBM song with new school elements... Pleasantly haunting, catchy melodies & slower lead theme change on a constantly spinning basis accompanied by machine sounds. I feel like Matt Hart has put together a real banger." ~ Mortel Misantropix, NecrogenesiS - Magyar Industrial Webzine, Hungary – 07/03/2024

" 'BLACK ABYSS' delivers exactly what MATT masters: blackened atmosphere, heavyweight 4/4 beats, razor-sharp dark-electro music penetrating into your senses, and another chapter in Matt's dystopian future. 'BLACK ABYSS' has become another club-wrecking new-school EBM song that fits perfectly into MATT HART's accurately and consistently constructed sci-fi inspired world. But the scariest thing is that science fiction that invokes a dystopian future looks more and more realistic in reality. MATT offers perfectly tuned, uncompromising EBM music for the impending end of the world! " ~ József Németh, Kollektiva, Hungary – 10/03/2024

/// reviews

"With "BLACK ABYSS" MATT HART Unleashes a New Electronic Essence... Enter the depths of industrial sound and EBM, MATT HART who has taken a bold turn with his latest musical project, incorporating an avant-garde electronic essence into his creative machinery. "BLACK ABYSS" is a powerful sonic statement. With influences rooted in EBM, this track is meticulously crafted to ignite dance-floors, infusing a groove that evokes memories of iconic bands like Nitzer Ebb, Kreign and Wulfband. However, despite these notable influences, HART manages to keep his signature style intact, infusing the piece with a vibe reminiscent of his previous releases, but with a freshness that challenges the boundaries of convention. But beyond its immediate appeal as a dance track, "BLACK ABYSS" is a deep and thoughtful experience. From its first bars, the song is permeated with darkness, emptiness and despair. With its dystopian and enveloping sound, it recreates a somber and melancholic atmosphere that ultimately invites the listener to contemplate mortality and insignificance in the vast canvas of the universe. In short, "BLACK ABYSS" not only represents a bold step for the MATT HART machine, but also a thrilling exploration of the darkest corners of the human soul." ~ Julio César Martínez González, Electro Emotions / Esotheknus Media S.A.P.I de C.V, Mexico – 22/03/2024
