ALL USERS - HOW TO EMBED VIDEOS & EVERTHING ELSE

I added a new mod to the forum to all users to embed youtube videos.

SIMPLY COPY AND PASTE YOUR YOUTUBE VIDEO FROM YOUTUBE IN YOUR BROWSER INTO THE FORUM MESSAGE

Example: https://your youtube video/watch?v=video number code

THAT'S IT!!!!

You type youtube followed by cut/paste the youtube video url and then type /youtube
surround both youtube and /youtube with [ ] brackets

One reason you would do this is if you're quoting a post with a youtube video and to speed up the thread you could reduce the size of the video to a postage stamp size inside the quote as such..

Inside the quote: Simply type youtube width=200 height=200 with the [ ] brackets in front of the youtube video url followed by /youtube with the [ ] brackets and no spaces.

There are a lot of youtube command options you may want to try..

Unfortunately only admins here can embed bandcamp, facebook, twitter, soundcloud, mixcloud, spotify, twitch.tv, and podcast players with the HTML commands because of the way the forum software is written on purpose due to the possibility that a user could embed spam or trojan programs with those commands causing problems for the forum or users. This is true for all websites and forums, BTW. which is likely why you don't ever see them on reddit, facebook etc. or other places unless the admins did it or fixed them.

At some point there will be or is a mod I need to find on the SMF site to change this and allow users limited use of the HTML commands without being an admin but until then you can..

..simply go to the bandcamp, facebook, spotify, twitch.tv, etc. item you want to embed, then look for and click the share option, and then look for and choose the embed option and copy the embed code.

NOW simply paste that code or codes into the post you are making.  The admins will look for these posts and add the HTML commands for you, transforming your embed code into whatever you wanted to have in the post.

If the admins somehow don't see or miss your post with embed codes, simply PM us here to let us know which thread we need to look at or what post you've made.
