I've been hooked on ambient music latley. Mostly the mellow melodic stuff.

Brian Eno is the godfather of ambient.

Pieter Nooten of Xymox fame did an amazing mellow album a while back.

Lowercase Noises does some great guitar based ambient music.

I found Dreamstate Logic on the Space Ambient YT channel. There's a ton of great stuff on there. It's electronic music with more modern textures.

What are some of your favorites?

I like Dreamstate Logic and have always liked Brian Eno.

Two artists that stand out for me over the years are Aphex Twin and Mannheim Steamroller.

i've never really listened to and Mannheim Steamroller. I'll give them a spin.

Start with their Fresh Aire albums on youtube which are their more ambient releases even though I always thought of them more as New Age music.

yeah, the instrumental pan flute thing isn't what I think of when i'm looking for "ambient". warm synth pads & slow pulsing atmospheres is more what I have in mind.
