UK Garage/Dubstep/Grime
« on: May 24, 2021, 02:43:54 AM »
Time for an actual dubstep thread. This style evolved from Jamaican dub music and UK Garage and 2 step. It was rough, bassy, filthy, and there was not a a bunch of digital sequenced LFO filters like people have come to associate with dubstep/EDM as it appeared in the states and then spread back outward only to confuse the fuck out of the UK. As an examp!e, imagine country & western music going the UK, becoming reverse polka and then hitting the states again, AS country & western music. Yeah, that would be confusing for most.

as a result, most of this music is just called "bass music", and no one invokes the dreaded dubstep moniker anymore :P

And so..here we go!

WOW - I  really like this.  Any more?  I see what you mean by how different UK Dubstep is from what it has become mainstream-wise.

Yes, I have a bunch to share. I was really into this when I did my last album. Oh, and don't misunderstand. I really enjoy all types of dubstep. However, like industrial, I think its important to understand where things come from in order to fully appreciate where we are.

I don't know exactly why but I'm really hooked on Distance and Kryptic Minds is really amazing too.  KM reminds me of some other bands that escape me ATM.
