John Wick is a 2014 American action thriller film directed by Chad Stahelski and written by Derek Kolstad. The film follows John Wick (Keanu Reeves), a legendary hitman who is forced out of retirement to seek revenge against the men who killed his puppy, a final gift from his recently deceased wife. John Wick also stars Michael Nyqvist, Alfie Allen, Adrianne Palicki, Bridget Moynahan, Dean Winters, Ian McShane, John Leguizamo, and Willem Dafoe.

Kolstad's script drew on his interest in action, revenge, and neo noir films. Titled Scorn, the rights were purchased by producer Basil Iwanyk as his first independent film production. Reeves, who was experiencing a career lull, liked the script and recommended experienced stunt and action choreographers, Stahelski and David Leitch direct the action scenes. Instead, the pair successfully lobbied to co-direct John Wick. Despite the project nearly being cancelled weeks prior to filming, principal photography began on October 7, 2013, on a $20–$30 million budget. Stahelski and Leitch focused on highly-choreographed, long single takes to convey their action, eschewing the rapid cuts and closeup shots of contemporary action films. Iwanyk struggled to secure theatrical distributors, as industry executives were dismissive of an action film by first-time directors and Reeves's recent filmography had underperformed. The distribution rights were eventually purchased by Lionsgate and a release date scheduled only two months later for October 24, 2014.

The marketing campaign was seen as a success, changing the perception of John Wick as disposable entertainment to a prestige event helmed by an affable leading actor. The film exceeded box office projections, earning $86 million worldwide, becoming a modest success, and earned generally positive reviews for its style and action sequences. It was hailed as a comeback for Reeves, the John Wick character playing to his strengths as an actor. The film's mythology of a criminal underworld with specific rituals and rules was also praised as the film's most unique and interesting feature.

John Wick is now considered one of the greatest action films ever made. Its unexpected success led to the John Wick franchise, one of the most successful action franchises, which comprises three sequels, John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017), John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019), and John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023), as well as video games and comic books. The franchise includes the upcoming spin-off film Ballerina and television series The Continental. John Wick has been influential on action films. It is seen as having revitalized the genre, popularizing long single takes with choreographed and detailed action.

PLOT

John Wick is grieving the death of his wife, Helen, from an illness. To help him cope, she arranged for him to receive a beagle puppy. A few days later, Wick is accosted at a gas station outside of New York City by a group of Russian gangsters, led by Iosef, who fail to intimidate Wick into selling them his 1969 Boss 429 Mustang. That night, the men break into Wick's home, assault him, and kill the puppy before stealing the car. Iosef takes the Mustang to a chop shop to remove its identifying details, but the shop owner, Aurelio, recognizes the vehicle and refuses service. Wick learns from Aurelio that Iosef is the son of Viggo Tarasov, the boss of the city's Russian mafia.

Learning of his son's actions, Viggo beats and berates Iosef for incurring Wick's wrath. Viggo reveals that Wick was formerly a hitman in his employ, renowned and feared in the criminal underworld as the "Baba Yaga," a ruthless and relentless "man of focus, commitment, and sheer will." After Wick fell in love with Helen, a civilian, Viggo gave him a seemingly "impossible task" to earn his freedom.

Wick recovers his concealed stash from his former career, including weapons and gold coins used as underworld currency for special services. He refuses Viggo's attempt to make amends for his son's actions and kills the hit squad subsequently sent to his home. As a result, Viggo puts a $2 million bounty on Wick's head, and his former mentor Marcus is enlisted to take him out. Wick lodges in the city at the Continental, a luxurious hotel that serves as neutral ground for the underworld and where conducting criminal "business" is strictly forbidden. The hotel's owner and Wick's old friend, Winston, warns him about the dangers of returning to the life he left behind. Despite this, Winston secretly informs Wick that Iosef is at the Red Circle nightclub. Wick infiltrates the club and confronts Iosef, but he is attacked by Kirill, Viggo's henchman, and forced to retreat to the Continental for medical attention.

As Wick rests, he is targeted by a hitwoman named Ms. Perkins, who sneaks into his room. Marcus sees Perkins from an adjacent building and fires a warning shot to alert Wick. He wakes up and subdues Perkins, who reveals that Viggo doubled the bounty for her to kill him in the hotel. She also discloses that Viggo has a high-value stash concealed in a church. Wick has another hitman, Harry, secure Perkins, but she escapes and kills Harry.

At the church, Wick destroys Viggo's cache of cash and extensive blackmail material. When Viggo arrives to assess the damage, Wick assaults him and his men but is captured after being hit by Kirill's car. Wick tells Viggo that he will not stop until Iosef is dead because the puppy gave him hope and a chance to not be alone in his grief for Helen. Marcus intervenes again to save Wick, allowing him to kill Kirill and threaten Viggo into revealing his son's location. Wick assaults the safehouse and kills Iosef. Afterward, Marcus encourages Wick to return to the everyday life he has built, but their meeting is witnessed by Perkins, who reveals Marcus's duplicity to Viggo. He has Marcus tortured and killed before calling Wick to taunt him with the details, drawing him back to the city.

Perkins is executed at Winston's behest for breaking the Continental's rules, and Winston informs Wick that Viggo is preparing to leave the city by helicopter. Wick races to the New York Harbor, where he fights and mortally wounds Viggo. Resigned to dying from his own injuries, Wick watches a video on his phone of Helen telling him they need to go home. He breaks into a nearby animal clinic, treats his wounds, and adopts a pit bull puppy scheduled to be euthanized before beginning the walk home.

Nobody - Official Trailer (HD) - 2021

https://screenrant.com/john-wick-4-mr-nobody-explained/

Mr. Nobody is a mysterious hitman in John Wick: Chapter 4, known for his killer dog, combat skills, and journal of sketches and prices on John Wick's head.
Despite being hired to kill John Wick, Mr. Nobody ends up saving him more often and becomes an ally, providing comic relief and a potential spinoff opportunity.
Mr. Nobody's motivation to kill John Wick is solely to collect the highest bounty, and he respects John Wick enough to keep him alive, ultimately helping him in the end.

John Wick: Chapter 4 introduces the new character Mr. Nobody, whose motivations, background, and final decisions make him one of the franchise’s most intriguing hitmen yet, but who is the Mr. Nobody John Wick character? Mr. Nobody arrives at the Osaka Continental in John Wick: Chapter 4 with a journal containing sketches of Wick and the prices on his head. With his killer dog, black beanie, and mysterious combat skills, Mr. Nobody follows a path similar to some of the franchise’s other favorite characters: He’s initially tracking down John Wick, but ultimately becomes an important ally.

Mr. Nobody ends up saving John Wick far more often than he tries to kill him, despite the fact that the Marquis later agrees to pay him $40 million to get the job done. Similar to Donnie Yen’s Caine, Mr. Nobody and his dog also provide John Wick: Chapter 4 with a refreshing amount of comic relief, particularly through a rivalry between his pup and the Marquis’s right-hand man. After surviving John Wick: Chapter 4’s ending and the High Table war, Mr. Nobody's unexplored backstory and connections to the High Table leave plenty of room for the Mr. Nobody John Wick character to return in future sequels or spinoffs.

The Mr. Nobody John Wick character is a tracker, which essentially makes him a bounty hunter sent to find and kill the target for the highest price. Mr. Nobody is one of many assassins trailing John Wick in the franchise’s fourth movie but is one of the few who actually survives his encounter with the legendary Baba Yaga. Mr. Nobody has connections to the High Table and knowledge about other major players. Not only is he aware of John Wick’s skills, friends, and motivations, but he also knows enough about players like the Marquis to figure out how to manipulate them into paying him more for John Wick’s hit.

Not much is revealed about Mr. Nobody’s past and true connections to the criminal underworld, except for the fact that he’s primarily motivated by getting as much money as possible for John Wick's death in John Wick: Chapter 4. Mr. Nobody has also trained his dog, a Belgian Malinois, to fight and kill alongside him. The killer dog survives some improbable situations while answering to some curious commands, such as “nuts” being an order to attack certain body parts of enemies. The dog isn’t the first Belgian Malinois featured in John Wick’s movies, as Halle Berry’s character Sofia had dogs of this breed in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.

The Mr. Nobody John Wick character is played by Canadian actor Shamier Anderson in John Wick: Chapter 4. Anderson has also been seen in movies like Awake, Destroyer, Bruised, and Race. The actor’s credits before John Wick: Chapter 4 also include roles in TV shows like The Next Step, Goliath, Apple TV’s Invasion, and Wynonna Earp, in the latter of which he starred as Xavier Dolls. John Wick: Chapter 4 is Shamier Anderson’s first major blockbuster project, with his character Mr. Nobody also having the potential to continue appearing throughout the John Wick franchise.

Mr. Nobody’s motivation to kill John Wick is simply based on wanting to collect the most money for his bounty. The character tracks John Wick throughout the fourth movie while also killing other assassins who attempt to get to the Baba Yaga first. The longer that John Wick evades death, the more the price on his head increases, so Mr. Nobody is ensuring that the bounty is at its highest by the time he decides to finally kill him.

Mr. Nobody’s desire to kill John Wick isn’t for personal glory, unlike the Marquis, but rather just to receive the highest payment for the death of Keanu Reeves’ character. When John, Caine, and Mr. Nobody are sitting at the table with Killa, Scott Adkins’ character assesses the ways that each assassin is trying to make their way out of the hitman life. Killa states that Mr. Nobody is trying to buy his way out, which supports the idea that the latter’s main motivation in John Wick: Chapter 4’s war is simply to make enough money to escape any duties to the powerful John Wick High Table.

Despite having countless opportunities to personally take down the legendary John Wick, the Mr. Nobody John Wick character never kills the Baba Yaga. One reason is that Mr. Nobody has incredible respect for John Wick, which grows as the two end up fighting one another or alongside one another. Mr. Nobody is keeping John Wick alive for the majority of the movie simply to make the price on his head increase, but in John Wick: Chapter 4’s ending, he lets Wick live for more personal reasons.

As Mr. Nobody and John Wick are fighting, the Marquis de Gramont’s personal hitman Chidi arrives and attempts to kill both of them. During the struggle, the hitman nearly kills Mr. Nobody’s beloved dog, but John Wick saves the pup before more harm can come to him. John saving Mr. Nobody’s dog leaves Mr. Nobody somewhat personally indebted to Keanu Reeves’ character, so the tracker ultimately helps John reach the duel in order to pay him back for saving his dog.

Mr. Nobody keeping John Wick alive for the final duel was also more beneficial for Shamier Anderson’s character in the long run. If John was successful in killing the Marquis and making changes to the High Table, it would help Mr. Nobody’s own future while getting revenge on the brutal Marquis. While John Wick does die in John Wick: Chapter 4’s ending, his killing of the Marquis allowed Winston to maintain the Continental, Caine and his daughter’s High Table debts to be erased, and Mr. Nobody's conflict with the Marquis to be relieved. Mr. Nobody sparing John Wick now makes him another protagonist alongside Winston and Caine.

The Mr. Nobody John Wick character continued the theme of expert assassins being dog owners and the pets being more important to them than anything else in the world. However, the character also continued a more interesting trend, as all the dog owners seem to be connected to one another. Most of the John Wick dogs are owned by both John and Sofia, who runs The Continental in Casablanca, and now Mr. Nobody has a Belgian Malinois in John Wick: Chapter 4 too, which raises questions about the tracker's past.

Given that Mr. Nobody's pet and Sofia's dogs are so similar not only in that they're the same breed but that they're trained in combat, it creates the theory that Mr. Nobody and Sofia are related in John Wick. The reason why Mr. Nobody wants such a specific amount of money is never properly revealed, so some kind of history between him and Sofia could be explained in a John Wick: Chapter 4 spinoff. The continued theme also raises another question about the franchise, as John's wife could have sent the titular assassin the puppy based on this already existing theme in the universe.
