X Marks The Pedwalk / LMX - Electro Industrial, EBM from Münster, Germany

X Marks The Pedwalk was started in 1987 by André Schmechta (Sevren Ni-Arb) and his school-friend Jörg Böhme (Regan Eracs) but they used the name Scarecrow at first. André and Jörg made "Black Door" (Scarecrow), "Arbitrary Execution", "Danger/Disease Control", "Abattoir", "Freaks" and "Cenotaph" together then Jörg Böhme left the band. He was replaced by André's brother Thorsten (Raive Yarx). André Schmechta put aside his work on X Marks The Pedwalk in the late 90's to concentrate on his family and career.

Does the name Luis Maximilian Schmechta make ring a bell? This young German artist born in 2003 (!) indeed is the son of André Schmechta better known as ‘Sevren Ni-Arb (X Marks The Pedwalk and owner of Meshwork Music). LMX started making music at very young age and last year already released his third full length album. Mixing elements of Electro-Pop and Ambient music “Habits And Addictions” reveals a mature production but still an original sound with robotic vocals on top. It’s not the most accessible music although it’s fully enjoyable. The opus has been co-produced with André Schmechta and mastered by Olaf Wollschläger.

LMX returns with seven new songs on his EP “Rehab”. It’s darker and more powerful than his previous three albums as he faces inner conflicts and explores the ambivalence of moral convictions and religious motives.

His modern synth-pop fascinates with complex electronic soundscapes. Powerful beats, driving bass lines, floating synths and stirring melodies carry LMX’s unique voice.

At times dark and melancholic, at times grueling and hopeful, LMX once again takes us into a moving and emotional chaos. Musically rooted in the 80s, “Rehab” also points the way to the future of electro sound.
