I love all genres, but particularly enjoy working with artists in the more underground Post-Punk, Darkwave, Dreampop, Synthwave, Industrial spectrum. I'm also a huge fan of Hip-Hop, Funk, EDM, and many other styles and am interested in working with artists from any and all styles. My rates are very affordable, send me a DM and we'll talk.

I'm procrastinating from doing financial work and playing this list of songs that could be featured in a modern John Hughes soundtrack.

Remember My Name (Remastered by: The Barbary Ghost)
by Oingo Boingo

Hello fellow Boingoloids! Here it is, the Holy Grail of unreleased Boingo bangers! Intended to be part of the 1987 LP "Boi-ngo", Remember My Name was cut from the tracklist before the band was ever able to record a proper version in the studio. All we fans have had to listen to for years is a low quality, almost mono recording from the demo sessions for the LP.

Thankfully YouTubers like "Oingo Boingo Tapes" and others have cataloged and uploaded all of these demo recordings. Without their efforts, projects like this wouldn't be possible for me. So huge thanks goes to them.

Here's the basics of what I did to get this from a barely audible demo, to a club ready mix. Layered multiple versions of the original demo, each one panned slightly differently to make up for the unbalanced original recording. Then they had their EQ filtered to bring out specific frequencies, and then those each had volume adjustments to compensate for any EQ changes. Once the skeleton of the remaster was in place, I then layered in my own drum kit (being careful to go for a late 80's sound), to fill out those missing kicks and snares. Finally I ran the entire mix through Ozone for some mastering magic
lyrics
Give me your secret hand
And I'll give you my deepest thoughts
Give me your promise that can't be broken
Give me your tired eyes
Ease your head of empty scars
Fill my head with pictures
That can't be stolen, can't be taken away

And if we're still here tomorrow
Oh will you recognize my face?
And if we're still here tomorrow
Will you remember my name?
Give me your pale eyes
And I'll give you my broken heart
And if you love me this is the place to start
If I build a pyramid from the sweat of other men
Would I be remembered now and forever
Or even for another hour?

And if we're still here tomorrow
Will you recognize my face?
And if we're still here tomorrow
Will you remember my name?
And if we're still here tomorrow
Will you recognize my face?
And if we're still here tomorrow
Will you remember my name?

Say that our life has gone
Just another bed of roses
Just another crown of thorns on your head
Give me your savage eyes
And I'll give you my only wish
Here again and gone today
Like a shadow.. like a shadow
Give me the world, now
And serve it on a silver platter
I'll give you my life along with my heart's desire
I'll give you everything I have

And if we're still here tomorrow
Ah, will you recognize my face?
And if we're still here tomorrow
Will you remember my name?
(We'll only be untrue
To each other if we lie)
Remember my name
(We'll only find the heart
Of another if we try)
Remember my name
(*Only pray all day
You went along too soon*)
Remember my name
(We'll only find the light
If we only see the truth)
Remember my name
(We'll only see the light
If our eyes are open wide)
Remember my name
(We'll only speak what's right)

Emerald Fields (The Barbary Ghost's 4/20/23 Remaster)
by Vernian Process (feat. Jamie Brewster)

We wrote this track about a year before Cannabis was legalized in our home state of California. This year I wanted to revisit this song with a newly remastered mix. This is a free track, but if you have money to throw around, consider throwing it towards The Last Prisoner Project: www.lastprisonerproject.org
lyrics
Vernian Process - Emerald Fields
Lyrics by ~ Martin Irigoyen, Jamie Brewster & Joshua A. Pfeiffer

(BG Vox)
Give us your tired
Bring us your poor
Your huddled masses
Yearning to be free

And we will suppress them
we will oppress them
we will divide them
silence is the key

demonize the seed
control the masses
dangerous they say
this reefer madness

(Jamie Brewster vox)

“(OG comin' out of retirement, and that don't just happen for anybody, yah dig?)

If you look at the statistics of incarcerated people, you will see that those of color fills the jail (it isn’t equal). We’re worth more to the system stuck in cages (it’s outrageous). Advantageous, lack of education (racist created). Since the beginning of the ages, we’ve been hated (incarcerated), for trying to feed our family, and now you want to legalize it? Tell me how you feel about it? I want you to think about it. Pause…

Free my folks from weed convictions (money is the new religion). They got tired of seeing all the cheddar being generated (aggravated). So they wrote some laws, so they could profit from it. (Stop it) If you think you’re gonna make a profit. Allocate for education, stop financial segregation, equity for all equations. Now you want to legalize it? Tell me how you feel about it? I want you to think about it… Pause…

They been locking us up for years, you see and now they wanna sell it. Hypocrisy 101, expose the truth I’m gonna tell it. Where’s the justice in the system? People of color are the victims. Lack of money equals guilt. Pay the lawyer, go free.

Twenty Five to life them say, throw away the key them say, three strikes you’re out, and now you’ll never see another day. Now you wanna legalize, what they lock us up for? Get up, stand up, we won’t take this no more.”

(BG Vox)
Legalize the seed,
control the masses
profiting from greed
divide the classes.

(outro ensemble vox)
We are the tired
We are the weary
We are the masses
Yearning to Be Free…

Clouds Across The Moon (The Barbary Ghost Remix)
by The Rah Band

The Rah Band are a husband and wife duo that have been active since the late 70's/early 80's. This song was originally released in 1985. The original song stands as one of my favorite bittersweet Synthpop / Eurodisco songs. This remix is supposed to pay respects to the original, by only amplifying the original mix and adding new kicks and some light percussive elements to spice it up a bit. Enjoy!
lyrics
"Good evening, this is the intergalactic operator, can I help you?"
"Yes, I'm trying to reach flight commander P. R. Johnson, on Mars, flight 2-4-7"
"Very well, hold on please, you're through"
"Thank you, operator"

Hi, darlin', how are you doing?
Hey, baby, where're your sleeping?
Oh, I'm sorry, but I've been really missing you
Hi, darlin', how's the weather?
Say, baby, is that cold better now?
Oh, I'm sorry, is there someone there with you?

Oh, since you went away, there's nothing goin' right
I just can't sleep alone at night
I'm not ashamed to say I badly need a friend
Or it's the end

Now, when I look at the cloud's across the moon
Here in the night, I just hope and pray that soon
Oh, baby, you'll hurry home to me

Hi, darlin', the kids say they love you
Hey, baby, is everything fine with you?
Please forgive me, but I'm trying not to cry

Oh, I've had a million different lovers on the phone
But I just stayed right here at home
I don't think that I can take it anymore
This crazy war

Now, when I look at the cloud's across the moon
Here in the night, I just hope and pray that soon
Oh, darling, you'll hurry home to me

"I'm sorry to interrupt your conversation"
"But we are experiencing violent storm conditions in the asteroid belt at this time"
"We may lose this valuable deep space communication link"
"Please, be as brief as possible"
"Thank you"

Oh, since you went away, there's nothing goin' right
I just can't sleep alone at night
I'm not ashamed to say I badly need a friend
Or it's, it's..
"Hello? Hello, operator?"
"Yes, it seems that we've lost the connection, could you try again please?"
"I'm sorry, but I'm afraid we've lost contact with Mars 2-4-7 at this time"

Now, when I look at the cloud's across the moon (ok, well thank you very much)
Here in the night, I just hope and pray that soon (I'll, I'll try again next year)
Oh, baby, you'll hurry home to me (next year, next year, next year)

Time (The Barbary Ghost Remix)
by The Alan Parsons Project

A remix of my favorite song by The Alan Parsons Project. Time originally appeared on 1980's "The Turn of A Friendly Card". This song has always meant a lot to me and I find the lyrics beautiful. I identify more and more with this song, as each year passes. Dedicated to the memory of the co-founder and lead vocalist of The Alan Parsons Project, Eric "Norman" Woolfson. 1945 - 2009. RIP
lyrics
Time, flowing like a river
Time, beckoning me
Who knows when we shall meet again
If ever
But time
Keeps flowing like a river
To the sea

Goodbye my love
Maybe for forever
Goodbye my love
The tide waits for me
Who knows when we shall meet again
If ever
But time
Keeps flowing like a river (On and on)
To the sea, to the sea

Till it's gone forever
Gone forever
Gone forevermore

Goodbye my friends (Goodbye my love now I'm asleep)
Maybe forever
Goodbye my friends (Who knows where we shall meet again)
The stars wait for me
Who knows where we shall meet again
If ever
But time
Keeps flowing like a river (On and on)
To the sea, to the sea

Till it's gone forever
Gone forever
Gone forevermore
Forevermore
Forevermore
Forevermore

A Tribute to Studio Ghibli: Volume One
by The Barbary Ghost

This album is a free download, but I really hope that you will take some time to donate to www.stopaapihate.org a wonderful grass roots organization helping spread awareness and education about Asian-American and Pacific Islander culture.

Joe Hisaishi is one of my favorite composers in the world, and the music he has created over the years for the films of Studio Ghibli are among my favorite compositions of all time! I hope these humble tribute recordings live up to the legendary music he has crafted for the past 35+ years. This is the first volume in a multiple volume series. This volume focuses on the classic films released between 1985 - 1992.

All songs originally composed by the maestro, Joe Hisaishi.

Arranged, mixed & mastered by: The Barbary Ghost

Beyond The End of Time: Chrono Trigger Remastered
by The Barbary Ghost

These are eight of my favorite pieces from the original SNES Chrono Trigger OST. I released this album as a comprehensive two disc collection of every single music piece from the OST, about ten years ago, under my project Vernian Process.

These eight pieces were remastered and reimagined just for this EP.

I Remember (Death In The Afternoon) (Ultravox Cover)
by The Barbary Ghost

A cover of my favorite Ultravox song, and one of their darker moments in general. The original appeared on the fantastic LP Rage in Eden in 1981.
lyrics
We turned the dial, we heard the news and laughed
We don't know why
We drank the wine and spoke of times we knew
Of days gone by

We flicked through photographs we had
Somehow they made us sad
Remembering the times we used to have
It made us cry

Oh, I remember
Death in the afternoon

A silence fell about the room with harsh
And heavy calm
The lovers and the friends all felt the same
It kept us warm

We raised our glass and drank to times we had
But'd see no more
The pictures of the past would haunt us still
And there remains

Oh, I remember
Death in the afternoon

Say Hello, Wave Goodbye (Soft Cell Cover)
by The Barbary Ghost

This is a cover of one of my favorite songs of all time. Soft Cell's Say Hello, Wave Goodbye was originally released on their 1981 LP Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret.
lyrics
Standing in the door of the pink flamingo
crying in the rain.
It was a kind of so-so-love and I'm gonna make sure
It never happens again.
You and I - it had to be the standing toke of the year

You were a sleep-around
a lost-and-found and not for me - I fear
I tried to make it work
you in a cocktail-skirt
And me in a suit (well
it just wasn't me).
You're used to wearinq less and now your life's a mess -
So insecure you see.
I put up with all the scenes and this is one scene
That's going to be played my way.
Take your hands off me
I don't belong to you
you see.
Take a look at my face for the last time -
I never knew you - you never knew me.
Say hello
goodbye - say hello
wave goodbye.

Under the deep red light I can see the make-up sliding down.
Hey
little girl
you will always make up

So take off that unbecoming frown
what about me?
Well
I'll find someone that's not going cheap in the sales

A nice little house-wife who'll give me a steady life
And won't keep going off the rails.

Take your hands off me
I don't belong to you
you see. . . .
We've been involved for quite a while now

And to keep you secret has been hell.
We're strangers meeting for the first time
o.k.?
Just smile and say "hello" -
Say hello
then wave goodbye - say hello
then wave goodbye

Say hello
then wave goodbye - ...

Reverie (w/B-side: King's Cross)
by The Barbary Ghost

This is one of the songs on my upcoming debut LP. I've been working on this song for nearly ten years, on and off again. But I finally think I have an arrangement and mix that I am really satisfied with. I plan on recording a vocal mix of this song as well. This song was written for my 20+ year, life-partner, Catyanna Amelie Pfeiffer. Musically it was very inspired by The Pet Shop Boys, Erasure, Goldfrapp, and other melodic, uplifting theatrical synth music.

Included as a bonus B-Side is a cover of one of my favorite PSB songs, "King's Cross".

Home Is In Your Heart (The Care Bears Movie) (The Barbary Ghost Rework)
by The Cast of The Care Bears Movie

This is a remaster (with a little bit of spicy percussion added), of the song "Home Is In Your Heart" from the 1985 Care Bears Movie. I saw this film in the theater, when I was about 7 or 8 years old. And watched it many times at home with my younger sister all throughout childhood. This was always my favorite song on the soundtrack, because the Care Bear Cousins, were my favorites as a kid. I especially loved Braveheart Lion and Swiftheart Rabbit.

This film was surprisingly dark for the time.

Where There's A Whip, There's a Way (The Barbary Ghost Remix)
by The Orcs of Mordor

A cover I made about ten years ago for an old D&D Party I worked at. This is a newly remastered, and remixed version just for my Barbay Ghost project. The original song appeared in the 1979 adaptation of JRR Tolkein's "Return of the King". Probably the grooviest song about slavery, ever recorded lol.

Poor Hearts (The Barbary Ghost's Extended Remix)
by Strawberry Switchblade

Strawberry Switchblade were one of my favorite groups when I was coming up in the Goth/Post-Punk scene in the early 2000's. This has always been my favorite song of theirs, but I always thought it was a little short. So I extended it and added my own layers of percussion and drums to beef up the original mix. Enjoy!

released June 3, 2023

London Dungeon (Phantasmagoria Remix)
by The Misfits

A remix of one of my favorite songs from when I first started getting interested in Punk, and Metal music.

Decided it would be fun to mix this track in the style of The Damned. Added a whole layer of new drums, bass, etc over the original mix before chopping it all up.
