!distain / Alex Braun - German synth-pop from Munich, Germany

!distain , also distain , is a German synthpop band. She was released in 1992 as distain! founded. After two of the three founding members left the band in 2003, they changed their name to !distain .

The Augsburger Alexander Braun, Oliver Faig and Sebastian von Wyschetzki founded a band in 1992 dedicated to the synthesizer . A demo tape that was created at the "Pop Albert" young talent competition was very well received by Chrom Records. At the end of 1994 the trio got their first recording contract with Chrom Records. A few months later, the band released their debut album, Cement Garden . It was followed by the [li:quíd] album in 1996 and Homesick Alien two years later . In 2002 Manfred Thomaser joined the band. In 2003 Oliver Faig and Sebastian von Wyschetzki left distain! .

Alexander Braun and Manfred Thomaser continued to work as a duo with a slightly different band name and began performing again in 2004 after a four-year break. After the performance in the Hanover Capitol , international performances in Moscow, Madrid and Bratislava followed. The album 25 Frames a Second was released in the same year . Since 2005, Rick Prokein has supported the band at concerts, but only became a permanent member in 2011. In 2007 and 2010, the albums Raise the Level and Anthology 1992-2010 were released. In 2011 !distain switched to the music label Echozone . In 2012 and 2014 she was the opening act for the band several timesand one . In 2014 !distain performed at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen and a year later opened the Amphi Festival with a concert on the MS Rheinenergie . The band's ninth album, Rainbow Skies At Night , was released in 2015. Rick left the band in April 2016 to pursue his own projects.
