The German genre visionaries LORD OF THE LOST are ending 2022 with a big bang and are releasing their eighth studio album Blood & Glitter on December 30th almost overnight. Following extensive tours throughout the year, including as special guest of IRON MAIDEN, and the great success of their last album JUDAS (#2 Official German Album Charts), the band is taking a 180 degree turn thematically and visually. After the mythological and theologically influenced previous albums, on Blood & Glitter the band expresses their love for the sound of the 80s and the look of early 70s glam rock, without foregoing relevant metal elements. The album gets straight to the point and hits the ground running from start to finish - so there are no ballads at all. Blood & Glitter embodies the energy of a LORD OF THE LOST live show and can be brought to the stage as a complete work. The lyrics of the songs, which are consistently up- and mid-tempo, are direct, honest, current, political, critical and urban - and often surprisingly angry or very personal. Draw musical and lyrical contrastsAs usual, it acts as a common thread through the album, which once again features many changes to the previous work. In addition to Chameleon Studios in Hamburg, Blood & Glitter was produced and recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki. Blood & Glitter is 100% LORD OF THE LOST – 100% “different” than before! Blood & Glitter was inspired by the work of the same name by the famous music photographer Mick Rock, known as the man who photographed the musical 70s - the majority of all photos of the original glam rock era were taken by him. LORD OF THE LOST visually immerse themselves in the attitude to life of this era and combine it with the wave and pop sound of the 80s, building on their own usual dark metal foundation. The result: a glamorous party with critical and blunt messages. Chris Harms on the album release: “In a time in which the marketing madness for each album seems to be getting longer and longer, in which half of the album or even more is already known six months in advance through advance singles, so that the High pre-sales for the release produce the highest possible chart result, what it should actually be about is increasingly lost: the pure magic of hearing a new album from your favorite band for the first time. We want to convey this “like before” feeling through this unprepared release! Screw the charts, playlist pitches and 1,000 pointless reviews in advance. What’s important is what an album means in the long run, not what its “value” is on the day of release.” While the title track "Blood & Glitter" opens the album in an immediately catchy way, "Leave Your Hate In The Comments" is a strong statement against the thriving hate culture on social media. “The Future Of A Past Life” features Heaven Shall Burn singer Marcus Bischoff, the album’s first guest. On “Reset The Preset” Andy LaPlegua from Combichrist takes part, while the band performs on “Save Our Souls” from Subway To Sally's Ally Storch is supported on violin. The album ends with "One Last Song", of which Chris Harms says: "I asked myself what would be the last song I would want to sing before I die and realized it was this song hasn't existed yet. So here it is. Probably the most important song I've ever written." As a bonus track there is the Roxette cover "The Look" with none other than the German 90s pop star Blümchen as a duet partner. Blood & Glitter is 100% LORD OF THE LOST. The band is once again going their own way and releasing an album without much advance notice that breaks all clichés, prejudices, genre norms and conventions and makes strong statements in terms of content!
