From the minds of Cryogenic Echelon & Aerodroma comes Avarice In Audio, a project driven by modern production techniques with melancholic lyrics and operatic vocals. At the helm of Avarice In Audio is Gerry Hawkins (Cryogenic Echelon) and Jade Pegg (Acidtrixx). Together they deliver a melodic fusion of Synthpop & EDM, taking two different genres and delivering them in one beautiful and unapologetic package that crosses many boundaries.

Formed in early 2013 under a different name at a underground dark electronic show in Melbourne, a collaboration between Gerry Hawkins (Cryogenic Echelon), Jade Pegg (Acidtrixx) and Lawrie (Studio X). After releasing a successful demo EP titled "Sleepwalking Societies" in April 2013, and a single featuring XP8 titled "Heartless Disaster" in November 2013, Alfa Matrix took an interest in the project and made contact.

In 2014 Avarice in Audio signed to Alfa Matrix in the first half of the year, releasing their first full album in November.

Dream Recall

In 2014 Alfa Matrix introduced you to AVARICE IN AUDIO, a project headed by Gerry Hawkins, which received incredible reviews and has accomplished so much in such little time. Now we display the other half of Hawkins, alongside the talented songwriter Chris Anderson (ECHO GRID).

This year we present DREAM RECALL. If AVARICE IN AUDIO is the braggadocio and the grandiose, then DREAM RECALL is the minimal, and the emotional. And to open we have "In Control", a song displaying the duality of DREAM RECALL, while Chris' somber vocals glide with the romantic synthesiser sounds, Gerry's screams once again add a sense of urgency to the song, and provide another release for both sides of love. Both the enraged need for revenge, and the melancholic need to accept and attempt to move on. DREAM RECALL's debut song was released through Alfa Matrix's legendary Endzeit Bunkertracks [act 7] compilation, and on that strength alone was chosen to be released as a single.

Evoking the spirit of artists such as AESTHETIC PERFECTION, ASSEMBLAGE 23, IMPERATIVE REACTION & THE PRESETS, DREAM RECALL is a hybrid of both passionate sound design, provocative lyrics crafted for an emotional response, and beautiful visuals to provide a portrait to the sound as well as the people behind it.

Drowning one EP

Australia’s hidden gem AVARICE IN AUDIO are back with the next single from their forthcoming new album “Tear Heaven In Half”. Leading the charge is the dance floor driver “Drowning One”.

With a grinding bassline, tribal percussion and Gerry’s penchant for in-your-face vocals and lyrics, “Drowning One” marks a very different sound compared to “Wicked Die Alone”. “Drowning One” starts off sounding like an industrial track from the 90’s before it reintroduces itself as a stomping tour de force.

In addition to the original track, four remixes have been curated. ANGEL OF VIOLENCE remixes the track into a cinematic, frantic affair, sounding like a soundtrack to a film not yet made. VISCERA DRIP bring a classic terror EBM flavour to the song, accentuating the club night nature while SINTHETIK MESSIAH and DIRTY K both experiment with more breakbeat style tracks, but go in very different directions.

Packed with a whopping 17 tracks, "Tear Heaven In Half" is a sonic rollercoaster, blending genres and defying expectations. From the breakneck Drum N' Bass frenzy of “Wicked Die Alone,” the searing techno beats of “You Are The Carbon,” to the hard-rock thump of “Who The Monsters Are,” this album refuses to be pinned down.
