Mortum Exabyss is a Hungarian Dark Ambient project since 1997. The Person behind the project operates a Record Label in NYC dealing with underground heavy musics such as Death Industrial and Dark Ambient.
Mortum, besides that, leads the Hungarian Death-Industrial Project, Stone Wired and contributes vocals and other assistances to groups such as Voidmorf, Odour Sonor, Von Cogwell, First Aid 4 Souls, Willful Deception, oMx and Nadragea.

I Am The Night (Bonus Version)

Cult Hungarian electronic industrial artist István Gazdag was pretty much productive and creative the last couple of years and surprised us by the unpredictable eclecticism of his fruitful collaborations on various electronic music styles ranging from avant-garde to synth and future pop.

Today FIRST AID 4 SOULS returns to the darker side of the project and unveils the new chapter of his collaboration with US-based singer Mortum (HUMAN VAULT) after the much appraised and existentially negative and dystopian album “Keep This World Empty” released in 2019.

“I Am The Night” is a depiction of the struggling self-dwelling in us all. A life folding experience painted using sophisticated and crafted synthetic sounds mixed in exquisite balance with symphonic instruments, bombastic percussion, hammering beats, harsh aggressive vocals and oppressive bass-lines. The characteristic dark elektro style of the band takes here an even more dynamic songwriting approach and delivers orchestral and almost operatic grandeur evoking bands in the likes of COIL, IN THE NURSERY, LAIBACH, WILL or yet SKINNY PUPPY.

Istvan Gazdag once again lets his passion for art intervene during the creative process. For each song, he selected one painting and let himself draw inspiration from these various artists to eventually write the multilayered soundtrack that would best fit the overall feel he was experiencing from the original painting by painters like Thomas Cole, H. R. Giger, Gustave Dore, Zdzisław Beksiński, Mónika Préger, Odd Nerdrum, Pierre Fritel, Jenő Barcsay, Mihály Zichy, Christine Cobden, Jacques-Louis David, Hermann Hendrich and Maja Sokolowska.

“I Am The Night” is both emotionally deep and philosophically deranged, and guarantees an overwhelming sonic experience challenging your senses. The path to destruction is set! An over-programmed data bank of fading memories. Your fake feelings, your empty frozen eyes and your decaying souls are real. The giant furnace will consume all of us!

Dancing At The Abyss EP

With the “Dancing At the Abyss” mini-album, Hungarian electronic music artist István Gazdag decided to ritualistically bring together the techno club universe of his FIRST AID TECH project with the darker industrial mood of FIRST AID 4 SOULS.

The 7 new songs are therefore per definition very upbeat floorpacking tracks hanging somewhere between techno body music and industrial dance, while the addition of darker tortured distorted or manipulated sampled vocals by Mortum and Vic Willow add a darker industrial touch to them all.

This is powerful “end of the world” dance music with a strong addictive hypnotic feel.

Laudator Temporis Acti EP

It is no longer surprising to see Hungarian artist István Gazdag exploring new sonic dimensions between the darker, harsher industrial albums of FIRST AID 4 SOULS, which he makes with Mortum.

With the aptly titled 7-track EP “Laudator Temporis Acti”, FA4S expands his sonic spectrum by openly and intentionally praising the sound from the past. By revisiting his electro goth roots our multi-talented artist wrote here what he describes as a tribute to the work of geniuses who laid the foundations of synth darkwave and to his personal heroes that are BAUHAUS and TONES ON TAIL. But he did not simply reproduce the sound of the past. He also captured fresher influences from the current boiling post-punk cold wave scene, with bands like SEXTILE, PARADOX OBSCURE, and others.

For this new concept, István Gazdag teamed up with long time friends who all have the very right voice tone and range to fit these 80’s New Wave inspired nostalgic songs! Starting of course with Vain Sacrosanct, the lead vocalist of Belgium's cold electro act CAUSENATION, with whom he already released an album a few years ago ("Stainless Steel Eyes"). Other featured artists include cult industrial metal Canadian-Hungarian female vocalist Linda Daemon (KR3LL, BLACK MAMBA...) and UK noir pop singer Mark Duffield.

Upbeat, retro, dark and gloomy, this new EP plunges us back into the good old sound of the prolific Cold Wave era, where nostalgic, tearful atmospheres wrap around catchy synth lines, minimal basslines and driving beat patterns.

The Coiled

The recordings were too personal to our closed friend circle that we decided not to keep the album on the web, therefore the entire album got removed from bandcamp. Over the past year I have ended our choice and finally made this great recordings available again.

Hardware music production with a final digital touch during digitizing the analog audio signals. The album was intended to cause negative emotional mood.

Proto​-​Culture [The Flesh Society]

Pain Above All !

Proto-Culture was the first official record of the Death Industrial project, Stone Wired. The album was put together with tracks edited and rearranged for the release plus additional recordings that were never meant to be part of the album in order to fill up the time on the CD.
The CD earned a steady acknowledgment from the underground scene in Szeged, a large Hungarian city that had a very active alternative music community at that time.
Although the CD was created according to the label requirements, and never satisfied the members of the project, it brought together a large number of followers that established the support for the next several CD releases.

However this time here, Exabyss Records proudly presents the original, omnipotent, untouched and true form of the album, Proto-Culture.

All recordings were digitized straight from the archive DAT cassettes and restored with great details by Grant R. of Hex Audio Labs.

THIS IS THE REAL FORM OF PROTO-CULTURE! The way it was intended to be! The death of the society made of flesh and virtual corruption.

THIS IS THE FINAL AND ORIGINALLY INTENDED CD VERSION OF DRONE OF GODS WHICH WAS RECORDED IN 2011. THE RECORDINGS WERE RELEASED AS A DOUBLE CD ALBUM BY EXABYSS RECORDS IN 2011 BUT THE FINAL EDITION OF THE ALBUM HAS BEEN NEVER PUBLISHED BEFORE.

This is the final and originally intended album version of Drone Of Gods which was recorded in 2011. A double CD digipak album was released the same year that contained the full selection of demo recordings but not the final edition of the studio album. The present album was, and always has been intended to be the actual studio album for CD release but this version has never been published for some peculiar reasons.

A very meaningful and serious album from mortum.
